Is January tougher when you’re single?

Is January tougher when you’re single?

There’s some of you reading this questioning how on earth that could possibly be the case, some might not have ever found January a challenge, but I do. I wrote recently about how loving Christmas makes going back to ‘real life’ in January even tougher. For me it’s tough because there’s such a stark contrast, it’s like living two lives. I get the full 2 weeks off at Christmas and travel several hours away to spend the whole time at my parents. I don’t have to do any work and I have no responsibilities. There’s freezers and cupboards fully stocked

Christmas is over and it’s hitting me hard

Christmas is over and it’s hitting me hard

I love Christmas. You may have noticed from the abundance of Christmas themed posts over here. But it makes trying to go back to ‘real life’ after Christmas a major challenge for me. I spend the majority of my two week holiday at my parents. Despite being 26, they still treat me as a mix of a teenager and house guest, which for the most part actually works well (although irritating at times I can assure you!). It means that I get to stop being an ‘adult’ in many ways. I don’t have to think about paying for things or

If you’ve been following this series you’ll know by now that I’m quite big on Christmas. It’s my favourite time of year and I start getting festive as soon as November hits. To do this every year I need to expand my Christmas viewing outside of just the classic Christmas films. I’m a big fan of Channel 5’s showing Christmas movies back to back on Sundays. I’ve discovered a lot of new Christmas films in this way. I also frequent charity shops. This is a great way to pick up cheap Christmas movies. During the middle of the year especially

Christmas Traditions: My routines in the lead up to Christmas

In the course of my life lots have things have changed. But very few things have changed when it comes to celebrating Christmas. Maybe that’s part of the reason I love it so much. I can rely on it. This also means that many of the things I do to get into the festive spirit haven’t changed either. So here’s a little insight into the Christmas season for me. One month until Christmas For me the run into Christmas really begins about a month before. This is usually when I have a dedicated Christmas shopping day with my Mum in

Christmas in New York

Christmas in New York

Christmas in New York is the magic we’ve all heard of. And I was fortunate enough to experience it. New York always seemed like an incredible place to visit, but I’d never really thought much about going at Christmas time. That was, until I heard someone talking about visiting at Christmas, and a lightbulb switched on. Christmas films I love are set in New York– Elf, Miracle on 34th Street, Home Alone 2! It’s an iconic place to be. I wanted to see snow in Central Park, the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center and see the Ball Drop in Times

I’m not impressed by this year’s Christmas Ads. But here are my all time favourites!

I’m not impressed by this year’s Christmas Ads. But here are my all time favourites!

Christmas adverts coming on, along with the Christmas drinks in coffee shops, signals a true beginning of the Christmas season. I love watching these, but this year I was underwhelmed. From the 2018 ads I’ve seen so far I love Kevin the Carrot’s expanding family and particularly the advert pretending to be the Coca-Cola Christmas lorry… I also loved the adorable story of the Heathrow Bears travelling home for Christmas. And I found Very’s ad where the young girl gets an astronaut helmet and goes on to become an astronaut very inspiring! But I don’t think any 2018 ads really
